Bernard G. Richards Feted on His Fiftieth Birthday

Bernard G. Richards, Executive Secretary of the American Jewish Congress was tendered a testimonial dinner Wednesday evening at the Hotel Pennsylvania, on the occasion of his fiftieth birthday. About 200 persons attended the dinner. Congratulatory messages from leading Jewish communal workers throughout the country were received by Mr. Richards.

Dr. Stephen S. Wise, with whom Mr. Richards has been associated for almost thirty years in Jewish communal service, was the toastmaster. He was introduced by Dr. Joseph Tenenbaum.

Dr. Wise announced that in token of appreciation the associates of Mr. Richards will provide as a gift to Mr. and Mrs. Richards, a trip to Palestine.

Former Ambassador Richard Washburn Child, who worked with Mr. Richards on the “Boston Transcript”, addressed the gathering.

Other speakers were Joseph Barondess, Mrs. Archibald Silverman of Providence, Justice Gustave Hartman, Carl Sherman, Rev. H. Masliansky, Morris Rothenberg, Abraham Goldberg, Henry Hurwitz, and John J. Leary, Jr., of the “New York World”.
