A national convention of the Bialystok Jews in America, which will mark the hundredth anniversary of the first Bialystok Jew in this country, as well as the 35th anniversary of the Bialystoker Center and Home for the Aged in this city, will take place in New York next month, it was announced today by David Sohn, executive director of the institution.
There are 50,000 Jews from Bialystok in the United States, Mr. Sohn said. A special pageant is being prepared tracing the life of the Bialystok Jews in this country, and their contribution to America, from the arrival of the first immigrant from that city, Simcha Sfass, to the arrival of refugees from World War II.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
