A Hebrew University doctoral thesis presented here maintains that the Biblical book of Isaiah was written by two different persons who may have lived 200 years apart. The candidate, a 57 year-old Biblical scholar Yehuda Radday, said his contention was proven virtually beyond doubt by electronic computers that analyzed stylistic and linguistic details in chapters 40-66 of the prophet’s work. The tests showed that the chapters were written by a second Isaiah, believed to have lived in the sixth century BC. Hebrew University professors say the chances are one in 100,000 against the first Isaiah having written the chapters attributed to the second.
