The Big Four ambassadors to the United Nations met for three hours today but failed to issue any communique at the end of the session. Meanwhile, a diplomatic source said it was his “understanding” that United Nations Secretary General U Thant would release his report on the Mideast just prior to the Big Four communique. The feeling today among some observers of the Mideast scene was that the Big Four were waiting to assess President Nixon’s press conference tonight at which he will discuss Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
