The Western Big Three Foreign Ministers will turn a deaf ear to Premier Moshe Sharett’s pleas for enough arms to balance the Czech shipments to Egypt, it was reported here today on the eve of a meeting in Paris among the Foreign Ministers of the United States, Britain and France.
The report said that the Big Three would issue a joint refusal to Israel, would agree not to enter an arms race with the Soviet bloc in supplying the Arab states, but would speed up arms shipments to Iraq. The refusal to Israel will be based on alleged fear of encouraging an arms race. Another report current here is that Israel might be given a “limited” arms supply, but not enough to balance the Czech shipments.
