The delegations of the Big Three Western Powers–the United States, Britain, France–were reported today to be seeking a common course of action before the Security Council convenes early next week to consider Israel’s complaint against Egypt.

Observers reported a strong desire to avoid further Israel-Egyptian bickering in the Council and to get both sides to agree to some more pacific formulation before the Council meets. Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold has spoken to both Abba Eban of Israel and Omar Loutfi of Egypt.
