The Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives is expected to be asked this week to refer to a sub-committee for hearings, a bill outlawing anti-Semitism, which was introduced recently by Rep. Ellis Patterson, California Democrat.
Entitled “a bill to suppress the evil of anti-Semitism and hatred of members of any race or religion because of race, creed or color,” the proposal would seek “to prevent the spread of anti-Semitism by use of the mails and the channels of inter-state and foreign commerce.” A fine of not more than $5,000 and confinement at hard labor for not more than five years for offenders is provided.
