Black Hand Plunders Transylvania Synagogues

The plumdering of two synagogues in Transylvanian towns is reported here.

Unknown vandals broke into the Jewish temple at Temesvar and the synagogue at Josefstadt, robbing them of all valuables, and breaking open all collection boxes. The damage done was estimated to be at least a quarter of a million lei. A note found read: “Do not interfere with the black hand’s work, for all will pay dearly.” The police have been unable to find the culprits.
