The shofar (ram’s horn), usually blown only on Rosh Hashonah and Yom Kippur, was blown yesterday in the Hurva synagogue, the oldest in the country, and in the Sephardic synagogues at the request of the Wailing Wall Commission which visited them today. The shofar was blown because the Commission desired to hear the sound which caused the controversy at the Wailing Wall last Yom Kippur, and which was brought up before the Inquiry Commission.
Last Yom Kippur the Jews were prevented from blowing the shofar and they repaired to the Hurva synagogue for the shofar blowing.
