B’nai Zion Asks Congress to Investigate Link Between Oil Companies and U.S. Officials

Congress was asked to begin an immediate investigation of officials in the Departments of State and Defense “to determine any connection between officials of the U.S. Government and Arabian oil companies,” in a resolution adopted here last night at the 39th annual national convention of B’nai Zion. The parley also urged Congress to establish the “extent which American funds have facilitated British aid in arming and financing Arab aggression.”

The delegates asked the government to make “immediately available” lend-lease and Marshall Plan funds to Israel and also to grant the new republic a loan. A third resolution advocated withholding further U.S. assistance to Britain as long as evidence exists that any part of American material or funds are being used to war on Israel. Finally, the organization asked the United States to serve notice that if the Arabs resume warfare, it will “immediately lift the arms embargo, ask for the expulsion of the aggressor states from the U.N. and adoption by the U.N. of nonmilitary sanctions against such states.”

During the conference two ambulances were presented by B’nai Zion to the American Red Mogen David, for use in Israel. Among the speakers were Dr. Emanuel Neumarm, president of the Zionist Organization of America, Mendel N. Fisher, executive director of the Jewish National Fund, and Zionist leaders Louis Lipsky and Mrs. Archibald Silverman.
