Professor Franz Boas and Dr. Alexander Lesser will give a course this semester on “Race and Civilization” at the New York University division of general education.
“This course,” according to the catalogue of the division, “presents the objective facts on race, and a critique of prevalent assumptions. The capacity of the races to participate in civilization is emphasized, and the fundamental role of the social and cultural environment for an understanding of man and culture.”
Dr. Lesser is a lecturer on anthropology at the university extension of Columbia University and the author of several books and papers on American anthropology.
