The first volume of “The Origins and Early History of the Bene Israel, ” a major new work by Professor Samuel Shellim, was published here today with an introduction by M.S. Kannamwar, Chief Minister of the State of Maharashtra of which Bombay is the capital city and where the Bene Israel community lives.
In his introduction to the work, Mr. Kannamwar notes that the Bene Israel Jews arrived in India 2, 000 years ago and have since made their contribution to Indian life in every generation and have played their part in the struggle of India for independence.
