Sephardic Jews who live in compact masses in Sarajevo are experiencing difficult times owing to the failure of the harvest in Bosnia. Many of the Jewish small traders are faced with economic ruin.

There are no organizations working among the Jugoslavian Jews to provide them with assistance in times of crisis. Out of this need, Bosnian Jewry has evolved a system of self-help and several credit-aid institutions have recently sprung into existence to provide credits for the Jewish merchants and industrialists.
