Brazil’s main Jewish organization is calling for a hate crimes investigation of a Muslim leader who called Jews a “cancer.” During a religious service held at a mosque in Sao Paulo last Friday, Mahmoud Mourad described Jews as “the cancer of humankind.” Mourad, who is of Lebanese descent, also said that the “artificial State of Israel” is responsible for the current attacks in Iraq as part of a plan “seeking control of the Middle East.”
