The “Voelkischer Beobachter,” the organ of the Nazis, gives prominent space to the closing down of the Breslau University for the third time. It publishes its own description of the occurrences under the heading “Because of Jewish Firearms Pointed at Our Students.” It goes on to describe the details of the disturbance at the lecture when the Nazi students assembled demanding that Professor Cohn should leave the University immediately.
The paper says that Cohn’s lecture proceeded with large numbers of students gathered outside the lecture hall shouting abuses until the University officials closed down the gates so that the disturbers were unable to leave. The Rector then called the police who, the “Voelkischer Beobachter” alleges, arrived with fire-arms and arrested sixty. It further reveals that the University authorities intend to refuse the disturbers admittance to the University examinations, hoping thus to exercise a disciplinary influence on the students, and bring about a discontinuance of the disturbances.
