Shooting developed on the Syrian front again today but it was brief and scattered, a military spokesman reported. He said the Syrians opened fire at 11:10 a. m. local time in the forward areas of Mazraat Bet Jan and Harfa and again at 11:45 a.m. near Nassej but Israeli forces did not return the fire. He said only a few shells landed and no casualties were reported. But a high state of alert was maintained on the Golan Heights today and the area remained closed to tourists.
