Britain Grants 1750,000 for Relief in Palestine; Tel Aviv to Get Loan

Speaking at Government House, High Commissioner Sir Harold A. MacMichael revealed today that the British Government has agreed to continue grants-in-aid, approving the expenditure of 1750,000 of Palestine Government income for relief of distress in Palestine.

Immediate expenditures will include 120,000 in four monthly instalments to the Palestine Jewish National Council (Vaad Leumi) for direct Jewish relief and L-25,000 as a loan to the Tel Aviv municipality for relief and road-building projects.

Expenditures in the new fiscal year, or earlier, will include L-50,000 for Jewish relief throughout the country, L-,50,000 for small municipalities and local councils for essential public works and L-150,000 as a Government loan to Tel Aviv subject to certain conditions.
