Rumors that war prisoners have already been brought into the country are said to be incorrect
The Arab Higher Committee today called a general strike in Palestine for tomorrow, in protest against the reported transfer to an island in the Indian Ocean of five Arab leaders captured in Germany after the and of the war. Three of the five are members of the Husseini family. They fled to Germany after the collapse of the pro-Nazi revolt in Iraq in 1941.
Arab women, both veiled and unveiled, will demonstrate in the streets of Jerusalem protesting against the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry on Palestine, when the committee holds its hearings here, the executive committee of the Arab Women’s Union announced today. The organization has decided to boycott the hearings.
Meanwhile, the Small Zionist Actions Committee has empowered the Jewish Agency, by a vote of 23 to 3, to appear before the inquiry committee in behalf of the entire Zionist movement in the country. A second decision provided that Jewish public and economic organizations would present their testimony through the Agency.
Ninety Jewish immigrants from Europe disembarked yesterday at Haifa, and immediately held a demonstration demanding the opening of the gates of Palestine and unrestricted immigration of Jews.
