Britain reportedly is planning to replace a controversial ambassador to Israel. The current ambassador, Sherard Cowper-Coles, who was appointed in 2001, is expected to be transferred to Saudi Arabia, the Israeli daily Ha’aretz reported. Cowper-Coles has made several statements seen as anti-Israel. He is due to be replaced in Israel by Simon MacDonald, currently private secretary to British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, the report said.
