A demand that the British Government protest to the German authorities against the anti-Semitic incidents at the recent German Party rally in Berlin was voiced in Commons today by Emrys Hughes, Independent Laborite, who also wanted to know the extent to which anti-Semitic propaganda was permitted in West Berlin.
Replying for the Government, R.H. Turton said it was a matter for the Berlin authorities to handle. He noted that the Berlin city council had adopted a resolution condemning the anti-Semitic incidents. He also quoted from the Berlin constitution which says that racial persecution or manifestations of national or religious hatred are punishable under the law.
