Britain’s Orthodox chief rabbi joined other religious leaders to push for anti-poverty measures at next week’s G8 summit of industrialized nations. In a letter to Prime Minister Tony Blair also signed by Protestant, Catholic, Free Church and Muslim leaders in Britain, Jonathan Sacks called for Britain to play its “fullest part” in pressing for debt cancellation at the meeting in Scotland, which Blair will chair.
