The Independent Order Brith Abraham and the Jewish Welfare Board are appealing to their members to render full aid in the Red Cross drive for Japanese relief.
The Jewish Welfare Board through Supreme Court Justice Irving Lehman announced that the entire machinery of its organization, reaching 350 constituent societies would be placed at the disposal of the Red Cross for the fund.
Judge Aaron J. Levy grand master of the I.O.B.A. isssued the following appeal to the 200,000 members of the order:
“Especially in moments of great distress and havoc, in the hour of suffering and desolation, there should not be any difference of race or creed. In the earnest spirit of brotherhood and humanity I am sure that the members of the Independent Order Brith Abraham, the greatest Jewish fraternal organization in the world, will act, and act quickly, to relieve the hungry, the wounded and the homeless.
“We must give and give as much as we can. As Jews who know the meaning of suffering and torture, who have felt the excruciating agonies of intolerance and massacres and who have appealed to humanity for sympathy and succor. I am sure that we will be in the foremost ranks to help in the relief of those that are destitute and helpless and in stark need in the land that has experienced the greatest disaster in history.”
