A detective chief inspector testified in the trial of four British National Socialist leaders now taking place here that a can of sodium chlorate found in a raid on the neo-Nazi group’s headquarters had had the label “weed killer” changed to “Jew killer.”
The testimony was given by Inspector George Williams who said the can was one of seven seized in the August 10 raid. On trial are Colin Jordan, 39, leader of the group, John Tyndall. 26, secretary; Denis Perie, 23, assistant secretary, and Roland Kerr Ritchie, 42, research officer. They are charged with violating Britain’s Public Order Act for having created and participated in the activities of a semi-military organization called “Spearhead.” The Act forbids organizations seeking to use force to achieve political goals.
Jordan, acting as his own attorney, asserted during the session that a police detective had scribbled on one of the can’s the words: “Place a few crystals in a sealed room filled with Jews.” This was flatly denied by Inspector Williams.
