Briton Sees Possibility of Arms Limitation in Middle East

Declaring that he believed some agreement could be reached among the big powers for the limitation of arms exported to the Middle East, Jo Grimond, leader of the Liberal party, declared here today that he did not think the Soviet Union wants the Middle East “filled with arms.”

In his opinion, Mr. Grimond said, the Tripartite Declaration of 1950, in which Britain, France and the United States guaranteed the territorial integrity of the Middle East state, “no longer offers a suitable basis for a Western policy concerning the Middle East. “
