A mass meeting of Jews of the Bukowina has been held here under the presidency of Dr. Meyer Ebner to protest against the Roumanian Government’s withholding of citizenship from the Bukowinian Jews. A resolution was adopted protesting against the paragraph inserted in the Nationality Law of February 24th, 1924, by which a large section of the Jewish population of the Bukowina are deprived of their rights of citizenship and are rendered “persons without a native country.” This paragraph, the resolution declares, is in contravention to the fundamental principles of the Peace Treaty and of the Roumanian Constitution.

“This mass meeting appeals to His Majesty the King,” the resolution concludes, “to call upon the Government to withdraw the application of this paragraph and to act in accordance with the Constitution incorporating the terms of the Peace Treaty.”
