Palestine is expected to harvest a bumper crop of grain this year with 14,000 tons of wheat alone — double last year’s harvest.
This will make the Holy Land nearly self-sufficient in bread supplies. The barley crop is also promising and Palestine may be able to resume its practice of several years ago of exporting barley.
The anticipated yield is the largest in seven years. The crops were favored by late rains, particularly the late-sown wheat.
