The Burma Government and Solel Boneh, the Israel construction cooperative, will establish two industries in Burma on a partnership basis, Burmese Premier U Nu declared in Haifa today as he continued his tour of the Jewish State. Premier U Nu said that his government would invest $8,000,000 together with Solel Boneh to set up a glass and a tire industry.
As his tour continued it became evident that the Premier was as taken with the people of Israel as they are with him. This was particularly so in his dealings with children and young people. En route to Haifa his motorcade was cheered by a picnicking group of 50 young girl students. He halted the motorcade and spoke to the children who returned the greeting by dancing a hora for him.
When the dance concluded, the entranced visitor broke into applause and, turning to an aide, instructed him to contribute 500 pounds to the school attended by the girls, the Rambam School of Tel Aviv. He told Levi Eshkol, Israel Finance Minister, and Mayor Abba Khousi of Haifa, who were in his party, that he had been deeply moved by the girls, spontaneous demonstration. He has frequently halted official tours to mingle with children and to sign their autograph books, often delaying the official party.
At Haifa he inspected the facilities of the port and the industrial complexes in the Haifa Bay and Hadera areas and visited with Druze villagers on Mt. Carmel. During his tour of Haifa he was cheered by thousands of Israelis who lined the streets whenever his motorcade was spotted.
