Max Goldstein, a butcher at 844 Gerard avenue, the Bronx, was held in $50 bail for Special Sessions by Magistrate Jonah J. Goldstein in Sixth District Court yesterday on a charge of selling non-kosher meat labeled as kosher.
Inspectors Bruno Frankel and Patrick J. McKenna of the Department of Markets testified they found three and a half pounds of non-kosher liver in the butcher shop.
The fight against non-kosher meat in the Bronx is being pressed by the Bronx Strictly Kosher Butchers Association. Nathan Immerman, counsel to the association, assisted Assistant District Attorney Martin-Frank, who appeared for the prosecution.
