An intensive campaign to combat anti-Semitism in the Provinces, means of extending relief to the German Jews and other general problems of Canadian Jewry will be the agenda of the convention to be held Jan. 27 in Toronto by the Canadian Jewish Congress. Elections of delegates will be held December 31.
At a meeting of the Dominion Executive here last week, attended by representatives from all parts of the country and the three Congress divisions, divisional assignments of delegates were made. The following officers were elected:
Lyon Cohen, honorary president; Edmund Scheur of Toronto and A. J. Freiman of Ottawa, honorary vice-presidents; E. W. Jacobs, M.P., president; Peter Bercovitch, vice-president Eastern Division; Rabbi E. Sachs, Central Division and M. Finkelstein, Western Division; H. Wolofsky, H. M. Caiserman, treasurer and secretary.
The Eastern Division is to have 76 delegates, Central Division 90 delegates and the Western Division 55 delegates. The Congress executive will consist of 45 members.
