The Dominion Council of the Canadian Jewish Congress, Easter Division, has decided to exclude from membership the United Jewish Peoples Order and its affiliated bodies which have a leftist orientation. These organizations will, according to the decision, not be asked to said delegates to the forthcoming plenary session of the Canadian Jewish Congress. The decision now needs ratification by the national executive of the Canadian Jewish Congress.

The Council has also considered steps for the financial rehabilitation of the Jewish Peretz Schools, which are on the verge of closing their doors after an existence of 38 years. Over 600 children received their education in the Jewish Peretz Schools. The amalgamation of the Peretz Schools with the Yiddish Folks Shulen was suggested as a solution of the problem.
