Prime Minister John G. Diefenbaker, in his first Rosh Hashanah message to Canadian Jewry since he assumed the helm of the Canadian Government, declared: “I am very pleased to extend my greetings and good wishes for the Jewish New Year 5718. During the coming year I am sure the Jewish community will continue, as in the past, to make a very valuable contribution to the welfare of Canada.”
