Bemice Gerard, a Canadian pastor and a well-known radio commentator in Vancouver, recently presented Jewish National Fund chairman Moshe Rivlin with a $12,400 check on the occasion of Israel’s 30th anniversary. The check came from viewers of Canadian TV following the program “100 Huntly Street,” which mentioned gift trees for planting in the Holy Land. Gerard interviewed Rivlin on tree planting in Israel–to be broadcast on CJOR Radio, Vancouver. “We Canadians are proud to have a part in the greening of Israel,” Gerard said. She was instrumental in the planting of a grove of trees in Israel’s Canada Park in 1975.
