Bernard Shane, manager of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union of Canada, left for Europe where he will serve as member of a Canadian delegation to select some 2,500 skilled DP needle trades workers from camps as immigrants to the Dominion.
The majority of the 2,500 needle workers will take up residence in Montreal and Toronto, where most of the factories in the industry are concentrated. It was announced that the former German submarine tender Huascaran which was awarded to Canda as reparations will be placed in service this winter transporting DP immigrants from Europe.
