Efforts to confirm a report that Daniel Ferris, secretary of the American Athletic Union, had said the United States was certain to take part in the 1936 Olympics were unsuccessful here tonight.
Ferris was quoted as having said:
“The German invitation to participate is sure to be accepted. If we had voted on it at our last meeting American participation would have been decided.”
