Cardinal Silj, president of the recently formed Christian League for Peace, and cousin of Cardinal Gasparri, died here at the age of eighty.

Cardinal Silj was one of the founders of the Christian League for Peace which had as its purpose the conversion of Jews to Catholicism as a method of achieving world peace.

Bernard Stone, Associate National Director of the United Palestine Appeal, will arrive in Los Angeles March third to direct Southern California’s campaign for the United Palestine Appeal. The quota of the Region has been set at $150,000. The cities included in the campaign are Greater Los Angeles. Long Beach, San Diego, San Bernardino, Bakersfield, Taft, Santa Barbara and Santa, Anna.

Mr. Stone is the author of numerous books and pamphlets on Zionism and has lectured extensively on the movement throughout England and America. Before coming to America a few years ago. Mr. Stone was an active figure in the British Labor Party and as a political writer and debater became a prominent figure in English public life. He has visited every Jewish community in England and Scotland in company with Dr. Weizmann, the late Dr. Mar Nordic and other Zionist leaders.
