Britain’s oldest evacuee is reported to be 104-year-old Leah Skurnik, a Jewess, who is now living in Southport with more than 40 other inmates of the Manchester Home for Aged and Incurable Jews. The centenarian is said to be the cheeriest in the group, encouraging the others with such remarks as: “Everything will be all right, nothing will happen to England.”
