Central American General Zionists Establish Confederation Council

The formation of a Central American and Caribbean Council of the World Federation of General Zionists was announced here today following a conference of General Zionist leaders from Central America and the Caribbean Dr A Fastlicht of Mexico was elected president of the Council, which will hold its next session in Mexico City.

The conference adopted a resolution “greeting with satisfaction the re-organization of General Zionism under the leadership of Dr. Israel Goldstoin and Mrs. Rose Halprin, on a Diaspora basis and non-affiliation with any political parties in Israel.” The resolution pledged “full support” to the reorganized Confederation. Other resolutions pledged support to fund-raising for Israel, Chalutziut and Hebrew education.

The newly elected Council is composed of 11 members including Dr. A. Fastlicht and T Reznikoff of Mexico; I. Lutski and L. Yarmus of Cuba; A. Meltzer and J, Zonzinsky of Costa Rica; L Levin of Venezuela; B. Phillip of the Dominican Republic; J. Reteiny of Nicaragua; H Kris of Panama, and E. Tenenbaum of Guatemala.
