A funeral service was held today for Charles Frost, industrialist and Jewish communal leader, who died on Friday in his residence here at the age of 75. Active in the ownership and operation of a number of business enterprises, Mr. Frost had also served in numerous Jewish and Israeli organizations. He had been a member of the board of trustees of the United Jewish Appeal and a co-chairman of the New York UJA, and had served on the board of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. Mr. Frost was also a member of the board of the American Technion Society and of the Jewish Cultural Foundation of New York University. He was a trustee of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a founder of the NYU Medical Center. He received many honors as a philanthropist. Yeshiva University gave him an honorary degree, Doctor of Humanities, for his charitable works. Born of poor immigrant parents on New York’s Lower East Side, he worked his way through Townsend Harris High School and NYU and served in the Army in World War I.
