Chicago Boycott Leader Gets Threatening Letter

General John V. Clinnin turned over to the local Federal Postal Inspectors a letter telling him to “look out for a bullet soon,” and warning him under no circumstances to participate in the national anti-German boycott conference to be held in New York, September 10. General Clinnin is a former assistant United States attorney general and former chairman of the Illinois Boxing Commission.

Besides General Clinnin, the Chicago delegation to the boycott conference includes: Alderman Jacob M. Arvey, Morris Katz, John Rissman, Dr. Samuel S. Hollander, H. B. Rittman, A. H. Rosenberg, Harry Lipsky, Louis Harrison, Jacob G. Grossberg, George Gordon, Joseph R. Dorfman, A. Paul Holleb, J. B. Berland, Joseph Weil, Abraham Feldman, A. Z. Halperin and Charles Schwartz.

The meeting at which the delegates were chosen agreed unanimously that a universal boycott of Germany is essential.
