A Chinese captain of an Israeli fishing boat, Captain Phou of Formosa, said today he had decided to make his home in Israel and that he had asked for Israeli citizenship.

The 35-year-old fisherman has already acquired a fair knowledge of Hebrew from working with the Israeli crew on the Dagit which fishes for tuna in the Atlantic. The Somerfin company, owners of the boat, said they would support his citizenship application and had undertaken to provide him with a home in Haifa.
