The Jewish Welfare Fund campaign here went over the top by more than $120,000 last night, as a total of $2,799,000 pledged was announced at the final report meeting of the group. The goal sought was $2,677,719.
Jewish leaders viewed the successful campaign as the most significant one conducted among Cleveland’s Jewry. It sought nearly double the amount of last year’s goal of $1,398,400 which fell somewhat short of achievement. The pledges year run more than double last year’s $1,362,000 collected. More than 30,000 contributed, the highest number in the history of these campaigns. “The drive has been a shining example of complete harmony and fine leadership,” Rabbi Barnett R. Bickner, general chairman, said.
