A thanksgiving service was held at the Temple here yesterday to commemorate the completion of 40 years of service to the congregation by its spiritual leader, Dr. Abba Hillel Silver.
The service was elected to The Temple’s spiritual leadership in 1917. At the time, its membership numbered 725 families; the present membership totals 2,450 families and is the largest in the United States.
