First prize for the best music or drama story or criticism in the annual awards of the Los Angeles Press Club was won by Dorothy H. Rochmis, Theater Arts columnist for the past three years of the California Jewish Voice.
Presentation of the award and its $500 prize was made to Miss Rochmis by actress Jane Wyatt at the annual awards banquet. The award made the Voice the first English-Jewish newspaper in the nation to win such an award in competition with daily newspapers.
