Resolutions urging the completion of German restitution and indemmification programs for Jews who suffered under the Nazi regime were adopted here at a plenary session of the Council for the Protection of the Rights and Interests of Jews from Germany. Delegates from many countries, including the United States, Israel and Germany, attended the parley.
It was also decided to strengthen ties between the council and its constituent bodies in other countries, particularly in Western Europe and South America as well as with the Jews of Germany. In Germany, it was decided to name three vice–chairmen of the Council to serve in the leading emigration centers. A vice-chairman to reside in the United States will be named shortly.
During the session the delegates heard reports on the Council’s activities in a number of countries where it had intervened in behalf of restitution and indemnification for Jews. A report was also made on the Council’s efforts to speed up the promulgation of indemnification legislation in the British zone of Germany and the Western sectors of Berlin.
