Confiscation of Jewish property in Rumania was reported today to be assuming immense proportions. Similar reports also reached here today from Yugoslavia and Norway.
Speaking over the Bucharest radio, the Rumanian Under-Secretary for Rumanization of Jewish enterprises announced that up until today more than 2,000 Jewish and foreign business firms were “Rumanised” by him and are now under his control. He estimated the value of these firms as exceeding 20,000,000,000, lei.
Nazi-controlled newspapers from Norway which reached here today carry long Mists of “fines” imposed upon Jews there under various pretexts. The “fines” are imposed with the aim of depriving the Norwegian Jews of all valuables and property they may possess.
