Consternation over Appointment of Notorious Anti-semite

Consternation was raised over the appointment of Dr. Best, author of the notorious Boxheim documents, to the command of the entire police force of Hessen. He has also been appointed Assistant Commissaire for Hessen.

Although it is believed by some that official posts such as these may induce in him a more responsible attitude towards Jewish questions, this hope is not borne out by the campaign against Jewish traders, which is being carried on under the toleration of the authorities.
