The national convention of the Pioneer Women, the women’s Labor Zionist organization in the United States and Canada, concluded here last night with an address by James G. McDonald, former American Ambassador to Israel.
Mr. McDonald told the 1,000 delegates and members attending the closing session that Israel’s shortage of food today is due to the determination of the Israeli people to keep the doors of their country open to Jewish immigrants. The absorption of the newcomers, he stated, is made possible partly through the generosity of Jewish communities throughout the world, but more so through the willingness of the Israelis to make great sacrifices in their standard of living.
