Correspondents covering the trial of Eliahu Khakim and Ephraim Ben Zuri, Palestine terrorists being tried for the assassination of Lord Moyne, decided today to ask the presiding judge to release the statement made in court yesterday by Ben Zuri, in which he explained his motives for the crime. The judge ruled yesterday that the testimony could not be published immediately, and might not be released at all if it endangered public security. A delegation of the correspondents who visited Premier Ahmed Maher Pasha to obtain release of the testimony was told that he would not be available until tomorrow.
The judge today released the information that the telegram received by him from an “American Jewish organization” requesting a fair trial, was sent by Alex Wolf (Wilf?) on behalf of the American League for a Free Palestine. Since today is the Moslem sabbath there were no court proceedings. The trial will be resumed tomorrow.
