Living costs in Israel continued to rise, advancing four points during April to bring the Index to 272. The base index of 100 is for Sept. 1951.

A year ago, when the Israel Government started large-scale subsidies to halt the price rise, the index stood at 265. The April rise automatically hikes wages tied to the index.
