Challenging Father Coughlin to substantiate his charges against Bernard Baruch, Dr. Stephen S. Wise, addressing the Temple Society of Concord last night, warned the radio priest “not to fan the flares of anti-Jewish feelings.”

“Do you want to evoke anti-Semitism?” Rabbi Wise asked, addressing his warning to Father Coughlin. “Do you think it fair, Christian and priestly to name six international banking firms and make it appear that five are Jewish, when you know that the house of Morgan is more powerful than the five and all the other Jewish bankers in the United States and Europe?”

Rabbi Wise concluded his challenge by asking Father Coughlin to point out a single action of Baruch not compatible with the highest standards of ethics, honor and patriotism.
